Tony Pomfret

For Tony, from watching an image appear in the developing tray when he was still in his teens, to creating images in Affinity or Photoshop today , photography, has been a lifelong passion. His first camera fifty years ago was a Zenit B. He says that the Zenit, which was totally manual in operation, taught him so much about the process from pressing the shutter to drying the finished prints in his kitchen at home.

Today, Tony uses a mirrorless digital camera to create his images. Since attending the DPS and joining PSNZ, he has become interested in image creations by digital artists such as Pep Ventosa and Thomas Vanoost and he sees his early attempts as part of the learning curve. Although it is over 50 years since he started his photographic journey, he still gets a thrill each time he look at new works and hopes that will continue for as long as he is able to hold his camera!
