Ross McIvor
Ross describes himself as an eclectic photographer who takes photographs of anything which catches his interest at the time. But it is in the outdoors where he feels he’s really in his element, photographing nature in all its guises. He says that for a long time it was wildlife and its behaviour which he was passionate about recording and he feels very privileged to have spent numerous magical hours very close to animals and birds. He reckons he spent far more time simply watching them as opposed to photographing them. Ross says it’s their behaviour he finds so fascinating. There is another aspect of nature that he really enjoys, though, and that is the macro world with all those fascinating tiny details that can be discovered there.
In more recent years, Ross has found himself focussing more on landscapes. He has a strong emotional connection to the wide open spaces and mountains of the South Island of New Zealand, finding the ever changing drama of the weather totally captivating. As a result, he says, clouds tend to feature prominently in his landscape images.
A few of Ross’s images can be seen below. Just look at the exquisite detail that can be seen in them. They’re simply awesome.
